One of the biggest draws at Expo 2020 is the UAE pavilion, sitting at the centre of the event in Dubai.
The upper part of the building is in reality a highly sophisticated piece of machinery, with choreographed motion intended to recreate the spreading wings of an enormous falcon.
Six months of engineering development followed by production, installation, commissioning and, above all, a multinational team working in tandem between Italy and Dubai, have all allowed the transformation of architect Santiago Calatrava’s idea into reality.
The harmonious motion control of the upper part of the building is founded on extremely complex engineering work that allows simultaneous movement of 28 elements up to 75 m long with the sole intent of inspiring the imagination of visitors.
This work represents the jewel in the crown of Duplomatic’s turnkey projects. It is the product of synergy between our divisions and the integrated use of our many areas of motion expertise, which have allowed us to tackle this engineering and management challenge using technical solutions to create a truly spectacular result.
